Monarch Butterflies
Monarch Butterflies are a common sight in The Glades Resort. Not only do they migrate here, there is a local population too!
Easy to spot with its vivid orange and black coloring it averages a 3.5” to 4” wingspan and can fly at up to 5.5mph!
Monarchs have been important to most of the native americans and Sitting Bull had one in his hatband. Monarch Butterflies also have an important role in Día de Muertos or Day of the Dead in central Mexico and also in Christianity.
