The Glades Resort is the first RV Resort in the nation to be powered by a 1 Megawatt Solar Farm

Our Solar Farm is engineered to power the electric needs of our 400 site park, golf course, and marina. Aside from reductions in CO2 emissions and greenhouse gases, our solar farm fights climate change, improves air quality, provides health benefits, reduces dependence on foreign and non renewable energy sources. It will stabilize our energy costs with continued cost reductions in the future.

Carbon Footprint

Your carbon footprint will be reduced. Over the life of your system 35,882 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) will be eliminated from your footprint.

Equivalent to:

Planting 836,051 trees.

Driving reduced by 71,764,000 auto miles, or 3,659,964 gallons of gasoline.

Recycling 113,387 tons of waste instead of sending it to landfills.

Displacing CO2 emissions from the annual electric use of 4,068 homes.

34,964,190 pounds (17,482.1 tons) of coal burned.

875,162,500 gallons of water used by thermoelectric power plants.

Our park has been recognized by the OHI Foundation as a beacon of environmental stewardship and sustainable living.

The Glades Resort Green Report

The ForEverGlades RV Resort LLC was established to preserve and observe Florida flora and fauna in a natural setting for all park attendees. As part of our mission we have been sensitive to climate change and have been involved with water and energy savings equipment and practices (LED lighting, instantaneous hot water makers, low volume toilets, restricted flow water fixtures, and water restrictions on outside use), relocation of honey bees in buildings and nuisance animals on sites, denial of vegetative state herbicide spraying in the marina to allow natural water plants for manatee fodder and fish estuary, transitioning to all electric golf and work carts, leaving sections of the grounds in a natural state for wildlife including a gopher tortoise sanctuary with rescues, and have implemented an excessively large storm water retention system that includes a half mile, kayaking pond and canal.

The Glades professionally designed nine hole golf course is accredited by the International Audubon Society for environmental maintenance practices. While playing golf it is possible to view wildlife such as sandhill cranes, opossums, armadillos, an alligator, otters, an assortment of large birds, turtles, and an occasional aggressive golfer having a bad day.

The Glades proudest achievement has been the installation of a 1 megawatt Solar Farm in 2021, which to our knowledge is the largest solar system of any RV park in the nation. It has been designed to meet the power usage of our 400 site park, buildings, golf course, restaurant, and marina. See our Carbon Footprint below to discover this project’s environmental impact! Another RV Park advantage is that a site electric pedestal can be used as an electric vehicle charging station.
